A Computer’s Life: Ivan

Ivan, the Lenovo ThinkPad T61

In this installment of “A Computer’s Life”, I’m personifying a ThinkPad T61 (with a 15.4” screen), whom I named Ivan. You can see him on Barefoot Contessa: Back To Basics, season 1 on the Food Network. The picture above is a snapshot taken from Barefoot Contessa: Back to Basics, Season 1: Episode 2: Chicken All The Time. This is how Ivan would be like if he were a human (or in other words, here’s a short biography about him):

This is Ivan Garten. He is 22 years old. He has 3 siblings – an older brother, an older sister, and a twin brother. His Mother is Ina Garten – a cooking show host, author, and former specialty food store owner who stars in the on the Food Network cooking show “Barefoot Contessa”, is the author of several best-selling cookbooks (the “Barefoot Contessa” cookbook series), and was the owner of a popular specialty food store named “Barefoot Contessa”. His father is Jeffrey Garten – a Juan Trippe professor in the Practice of International Trade, Finance, and Business at the Yale School of Management, and author of five books. He was born and raised in East Hampton, New York.

Ivan is an upcoming chef and author. He likes to call himself “The Barefoot Contestant” and wants to launch a series of cookbooks, a TV show, and maybe even a specialty food store of the same name (the reason he calls himself that is because unlike his mom, he makes paleo/primal-type of food/recipies – although she comes fairly close). He decided to follow his mother’s footsteps after being surrounded around cooking while growing up (probably because he spent a lot of time with his mom growing up). He learned a lot about cooking from her and her style is evident in his cooking – people are even seeing him as the second-coming of Ina Garten (his own mother!).

Although Ivan can relate to both of his parents, he seems to have more things in common with his mother. He loves to entertain people, just like his mother, and has a comforting, nurturing manner like her. He is calm and burly, loves to have fun, go to the beach, and is into science. He can be a little shy sometimes but is outgoing. He has a hard edge as well, but doesn’t show it often (only on select occasions). Overall, Ivan is easygoing and people enjoy being around him – he’s a great guy that you’ll grow to like.
