A Computer’s Life: Ian

Ian, the Lenovo ThinkPad T61

In this installment of “A Computer’s Life”, I’m personifying a ThinkPad T61 (with a 15.4” screen), whom I named Ian. You can see him on the cooking show Barefoot Contessa: Back To Basics, season 1, on the Food Network. The picture above is a snapshot taken from Barefoot Contessa: Back To Basics: Season 1, Episode 1: Steak and Sides . This is how he would be like if he were human (or in other words, here’s a short biography about him):

This is Ian Garten. He is 22 years old. He is the twin brother of Ivan – they are two minutes apart, with Ian being the oldest. They are identical twins. The only way to tell them apart is by looking at their logos on their screen lids and palmrests – Ian has the “IBM ThinkPad” logo, while Ivan has the “ThinkPad: T Series” logo. Just like Ivan, he has an older brother, an older sister, his mother is Ina Garten, and his father is Jeffrey Garten. Like Ivan, he was born and raised in East Hampton, New York.

Ian is a new and emerging director, producer and writer. His family loves watching films and are friends with film makers and this is were and how he found his passion (he learned a lot about film making from them). He has made films and videos that have received great recognition. People often comment on how fresh and unique his style of directing, producing, and writing is – they’re seeing him as the next big thing. He’s going to start a production business which he’s planning on calling “Barefoot Productions”.

Like Ivan, he can relate to both of his parents but (unlike Ivan) seems to identify more with his father. He does, however, have a quality that he shares with both his mother and Ivan, which is that he loves to entertain people. He also loves to have fun, go to the beach, and is into science like Ivan (but It seems like the whole family does too). Unlike Ivan, he has a harder edge and is wild and crazy (but he has softer edge too – he just doesn’t show it in public often). He loves making people laugh and helping Ivan and their sister Debbie make cooking videos (he even wants to help Ivan and Debbie with their cooking shows).

  1. Hi there! I love it that you commented on my thread regarding random ThinkPad users 🙂

I honestly get a little happier when I see someone at school whip out a ThinkPad. It’s strange but I feel like I just want to sit down with them and engage in conversation. There is just something about Thinkpads that makes the world a better place 🙂

    • Hi Tyrene! It was my pleasure commenting on your thread over at the ThinkPads forums (I just had to comment on it).

I feel the same way you do. Whenever I see someone with a ThinkPad, I just want to start a conversation with them and get to know them more (and I think even more now that I’m officially a Lenovo Advocate). ThinkPads seem to have some kind of ‘human element’ that makes the world a better place…it feels like there’s some kind of human soul/spirit inside of them that brings us closer together – they just seem and feel human.

Thanks for dropping by again :).
