Curse You Media!

Foreword: This post is aimed at those media outlets (but especially the tabloids) who aren’t doing their job well by not providing the public with true, informed news.

On April 19, 2011, I found out about some news about Ina Garten (the “Barefoot Contessa”) were she declined to grant a wish for a sick kid. I found out that a lot of people were bashing her and saying stupid, hurtful comments about her (comments she didn’t deserve). If I remember correctly, the article that I read was from the Los Angeles Times (I even posted a comment there). I think that this is some sort of “defamation plot” by the media. The only thing that the media cares about is money and maintaining the status quo. They don’t care about bringing true, real news to people.

The media is good at manipulating people. (And yes, I think that people were being manipulated here.) They know that if they put out a nasty rumor, or controversy, about someone that they’re going to make huge money out of it. But if that’s what the people want? I don’t think so. I think that people want to hear the truth…and more positive news. I mean, the majority of people don’t consider other posibilites. They just focus on the moment and don’t look beyond the obvious. They can’t think of other posibilities because they aren’t imaginative enough. This just shows you how the media is manipulating a lot of people out there.

The people who were whinning and complaining about this probably don’t realize that this has probably happened before, not just with Ina but with other stars too. They probably get hundreds of requests like this every month, and because of the amount of requests they get, along with their busy schedules, they can’t grant them all. I mean, she’s probably done this before, It just went unreported. At the same time, she’s probably granted wishes for other kids, which is something that the media doesn’t seem to care about. All they care is about stirring up controversy and degrading whomever falls victim to this kind of garbage, making them look like they’re the bad guy when they’re actually not.

I don’t know about you, but I’m not listening to this garbage. If the media thinks that they can manipulate me like this, they better think again. The stars have their own lives to worry about, so they should leave them alone more often. It seems like people have forgotten about that, or they just don’t realize it. It’s amazing to see how incompetent and ignorant a lot of people are. But at the same time, it’s amazing to see how the media is misinforming people.

Don’t worry Ina, I got your back. I always have and I always will, no matter what. I understand why you had to decline that kid’s wish and I know what you’re going through (unlike some people!). You’re still somebody I look up to.

Curse you media!

Irritating People = Rough Day

Do you ever get the feeling that some people are just in your life to make it miserable? Well, that’s how it feels to me sometimes. Some people are just so irritating. They’re always getting in your face, telling you what to do (because they either hate you or are just too lazy to do their own stuff), and it seems like it’s never going to end at times. I’m mostly talking about people that you have to live with, for a long time.

If you had a rough day, they make it even worse. Like yesterday, for example, my little brother (who can be REALLY irritating at times) really got on my nerves. What happened was that he was doing something for school in my computer but he accidentally deleted it. When he tried to search for it later on, he discovered that it wasn’t there (because he thought that he saved it, which he didn’t). I then remembered that he deleted it by accident, I tried to tell him but did he believe me? No! It was like he was blaming his mistake, which I clearly saw him do, on me! I was outraged. I got really angry. He does this all the time!

He further irritated me by interrupting my work (which he always does, mostly to do useless things). I was working on some new designs and research. I really don’t like it when people interrupt my work. If I get an idea, I want to work on it right away to get it over with, or else the trill will be gone or the idea will be forgotten.

You may think that my brother started all but my rough day actually started when I read a comment in a forum that I participate in that really got on my nerves (followed by another annoying comment). Another source was when my mom was coming down on me because of my shortcomings (she can be really judgemental). Honestly, at the end of the day, I just felt like crying. The feelings where just too overwhelming for me to take. The only thing that will cheer me up is to get away from all of this stress and be around the things and people that I love (along with moving into my own place, which is not going to happen anytime soon).

My response to the “commoditization” of ThinkPads

This is my response to the topic on thinkpads.com called “Editorial: Commoditization of ThinkPad”, as well as to everyone else who is saying the same thing.

I think that the whole thought that ThinkPad is becoming a commodity is absurd. It is NOT becoming a commodity, so don’t believe everything that you’re hearing about that. Really, is ThinkPad becoming a commodity just because they’re now priced lower? I think not. Price dosen’t determine whether something is good or not, but rather it is determined by its reputation.

ThinkPad has a great reputation. It is the longest lasting laptop computer out there. It beats its competitors with that and the fact that they’re reliable, sturdy, well-desinged, and well-engineered. Unlike most of it’s competitors out there, Lenovo designs its own computers and does its own R&D. They have a whole team of dedicated designers and engineers and they are in the U.S., Japan, France, and other places (but are mostly in the US and Japan).

Lenovo is not putting quantity over quality. The only reason they’ve been able to have all of the computers that they have (on sale) right now is because they’ve done their finances and research right. I like this because there is now a wide variety of computers to choose from. There’s pretty much something for everyone.

Another reason those people believe that ThinkPad is becoming a commodity is because, in addition to being priced lower, there are constant discounts. Of course they’re being discounted, almost everyone wants a ThinkPad (because that’s how great they are) and people are trying to save money. You’re getting great quality at a low price, that’s a deal you just can’t beat.

So there you have it, my thoughts on the “commoditization” of ThinkPads. I also invite you to see my friend Navck’s response to the topic and you can read it right here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=87969 . I also invite you to see the Lenovo Blog “Yamato Thinking”, which is moslty about ThinkPad development: http://lenovoblogs.com/yamato/?language=en

And so you can “see” how I feel about this topic, I invite you to hear the song “In One Ear” by Cage The Elephant (I’m sure ThinkPad feels the same way too).
